No trial timer · No scan cap
Free QR Code Generator with No Expiration
Most "free" dynamic QR codes are trials. They work until the trial ends or the scan count hits a limit, and then the code on your flyer, menu or product box stops working. ScanOrbit's free dynamic codes don't have a timer or a scan cap, and they come with scan analytics.
No credit card. No ads on your scans.

|---|---|---|---|---|
ScanOrbit Free | 3 dynamic codes | No time limit | No scan cap; codes keep working | Included: 30 days history, 500 scans/month recorded |
QR TIGER Freemium Source | 3 dynamic codes | No time limit stated | 500 scans per code, then it stops working | Basic scan analytics |
QR Code Generator (trial) Source | During the 14-day trial | Deactivated when the trial ends | n/a after deactivation | During the trial |
Uniqode (trial / free) Source | During the 14-day trial | Dynamic codes pause after the trial until you pay | n/a after the trial | During the trial |
All of these generators make static codes free and without expiry. The table is about dynamic codes, the ones that can stop.
Analytics on the free plan
Know whether your QR code is working
A code that never expires is only half the point. ScanOrbit shows every code's scans over time, the countries they come from, iPhone vs Android, the hour and weekday people scan, and unique vs total scans, with link-preview bots and crawlers filtered out so the numbers are people.
- Scans by day, hour and day of week
- Country, device, operating system and browser
- Unique vs total scans, bots filtered out
- Filter by code or folder, and export to CSV

Why dynamic codes "expire" at all
A dynamic QR code doesn't contain your link. It contains a short link on the QR company's server, which forwards each scan to your page. That's what lets you change the destination after printing and count scans. It also means the company decides whether the code keeps working. Trials and scan caps are a lever to make you pay, pulled at the moment your code is already printed on a thousand boxes.
Before choosing any generator, find out in writing what happens to dynamic codes when a trial ends, a scan limit is reached, or you stop paying. If the answer is "they stop working," don't print them on anything you can't replace.
Frequently asked questions
Is there really a free QR code generator with no expiration?
For static codes, every generator qualifies: the data is in the pattern, so they never expire. For dynamic codes (the kind you can edit and track), the free plan is what matters. ScanOrbit's free plan keeps 3 dynamic codes working with no time limit and no scan cap.
What's the catch with ScanOrbit's free plan?
The limits are on features, not on your codes working: 3 dynamic codes, 500 scans a month recorded in analytics (scans beyond that still work, they just aren't counted), 30 days of analytics history, and the basic QR types. Pro ($9/month, or $7/month billed yearly) adds unlimited dynamic codes, all types and a year of analytics.
What happens to my codes if I upgrade and later cancel?
Your account returns to Free. Codes using basic types, like website links, keep working. Codes using Pro-only types (PDF, menu, video and others) pause until you upgrade again, with their scans and settings kept, so nothing has to be reprinted.
Do free codes show ads or a ScanOrbit page before the destination?
No. A scan goes straight to your link.
Should I use a static or a dynamic code?
Static for things that never change and don't need tracking, like Wi-Fi or a vCard: they work forever without any account. Dynamic when you want to change the link after printing or see who scans: that's the code you want on packaging, flyers and signs.
Can I try the paid features first?
Yes. Pro has a 14-day free trial with no card. When it ends you're back on Free, and the rules above apply.
Print it once. Keep it working.
