Printable Wi-Fi QR Code Sign

Type your network name and password and get a ready-to-print "Free Wi-Fi" sign. Guests point their phone camera at it and join, no typing. The password is printed underneath too, for laptops and anyone whose camera won't scan.

Made in your browser. Your network name and password are never sent to us.

Enter your network name and password and your sign appears here.

Changing the password often?

A Wi-Fi code holds the password itself, so a new password means a new print. A landing page QR can show the current details and be edited any time.

How to make it

  1. Step 1

Enter the network name and password

Copy the network name exactly as it shows in the Wi-Fi list, capitals and spaces included. Most routers use WPA security.

  2. Step 2

Add your place name and a line for guests

Both are printed on the sign. Leave the password printed underneath unless you'd rather people only scan.

  3. Step 3

    Download or print

The sign is A5 at 300 dpi. Print it, or save it as a PDF from the print dialog.

  4. Step 4

Test with a phone that isn't connected

A phone already on the network proves nothing. Forget the network on one, then scan.

How a Wi-Fi QR code works

The code holds your network name, password and security type in a standard format that phone cameras understand. When someone scans it, the phone offers to join that network, and one tap connects them. iPhones read it with the camera app (iOS 11 and later); on Android, most camera apps and Google Lens read it, and Android 10 and later can also scan it from the Wi-Fi settings screen.

The details are stored in the code itself, so it works without internet and never expires. That also means a changed password needs a new sign.

Where to put the sign

  • Cafés and restaurants: on each table or the counter, so nobody has to ask staff.
  • Homestays and rentals: by the router or on the fridge, and in the welcome folder.
  • Offices and clinics: in the waiting area or meeting rooms, on the guest network only.
  • Events: at registration, on badges, or projected on the welcome slide.

Keep your main network private

Put guests on a separate guest network if your router has one. Anyone can photograph a sign, so the password on it should open the guest network only, not the one your till, cameras or work computers use. Change it now and then, and print a fresh sign when you do.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Wi-Fi QR sign really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark on the code, and the code never expires. The sign carries a small "Made free at scanorbit.app" line at the bottom.

Is it safe to type my Wi-Fi password here?

The code is made in your browser and nothing you type is sent to our servers. Even so, use your guest network's password, not your main one, since the sign itself shows it to anyone who sees it.

Why does my phone not connect after scanning?

Usually the network name or password has a typo or wrong capital letter, or the security type is wrong. Check both against the router's label. Also make sure the phone isn't already connected, and that you're in range.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. iPhones read Wi-Fi QR codes from the camera app since iOS 11. On Android, most camera apps and Google Lens read them, and Android 10 and later can also scan from the Wi-Fi settings screen.

What happens when I change the password?

The old sign stops working, because the password is inside the code. Make a new one here in a minute. If you change it often, a landing page QR that shows the current password can be edited without reprinting.

Can I hide the password on the sign?

Yes. Untick "Print the password under the code" and only the network name is printed. Guests can still join by scanning.
