QR code analytics
Know exactly who scans your QR codes, where and when
A printed QR code is usually a guess. With ScanOrbit every scan is counted: when it happened, the country, state and city, iPhone or Android, and whether it was a new person, with bots and link previews filtered out. Included on every plan, the free one too.

What you can see
Every metric here is in the dashboard today, for every dynamic code.
Any period, compared
Pick a date range and every number follows it: scans, locations, devices, timing. Each one shows the change on the period before.
Insights in plain English
"Scans are up 30% on the previous 30 days." "The busiest time is Saturday 10am–12pm." The findings worth acting on, written out for you.
What people do after scanning
On the pages we host (cards, landing pages, menus, product pages, forms) we count what visitors tap next: Call, Directions, Instagram, Save contact, form submitted. You see actions per 100 scans, not just scans.
First-time vs repeat scanners
See how many scans come from new people and how many from people coming back to the same code.
Unique vs total scans
The same person scanning five times counts once as a unique scan, so you can tell reach from repeat visits.
Country, US state and city
Where scans come from, down to the city, worked out from the network location without asking scanners for permission.
Device, OS and browser
iPhone vs Android vs desktop, plus operating system and browser.
Day × hour heatmap, local time
When people scan, in each scanner's own time zone, so a code seen in New York and Los Angeles reads correctly for both.
Phone language
Which languages scanners' phones are set to, so you know when a Spanish page is worth making.
People only, bots filtered
Link previews from messaging apps, email security scanners and crawlers are counted separately and left out, so the numbers are people.
Codes, folders and campaigns
See one code, a folder or a campaign tag, with your top codes ranked; campaign reports compare campaigns on Pro.
CSV export
Download a code's analytics, or the whole account's, to a spreadsheet.
Weekly email report
Every Monday: last week's scans, the change on the week before, your top codes, and any code whose link is broken.
Into your own tools
UTM tags for Google Analytics (Pro); a real-time scan webhook, REST API and Zapier for your CRM or data warehouse (Business).
Set it up right
Make the numbers answer a question
Analytics is only useful if the codes are set up to compare something. Four habits that make the difference.
One code per placement
A flyer, a poster and a shop window each get their own code. Same destination, separate counts, and the comparison tells you which placement earns its print cost.
One code per product or batch
On packaging, one code per SKU (or per batch for limited runs) shows which products customers engage with after buying. Bulk-create them from a CSV on Pro.
Folders and campaign tags
Put a campaign's codes in one folder, or tag them, and the analytics page sums them, so you see the campaign and every placement inside it.
UTM tags for what happens next
ScanOrbit counts the scan. Add UTM tags (Pro) and Google Analytics or your store shows what those visitors did afterwards: sign-ups, orders, revenue.
Analytics on every plan
Plans differ in how much history is kept and where the data can go.

Frequently asked questions
Can you track a static QR code?
No. A static code contains your link directly, so the scan goes straight there without passing anything that could count it. Tracking needs a dynamic code, which goes through a short link first. That's also what lets you change the destination later.
How accurate is the location?
Country is reliable; state and city are worked out from the scanner's network and are usually right, but a phone on mobile data can show the carrier's nearby city. We don't ask for GPS permission, which keeps scanning instant.
Why don't my numbers match Google Analytics?
They measure different things. A scan is counted when the code is opened; Google Analytics counts a visit only if the page loads, the person accepts analytics cookies and doesn't leave first. Scans are usually higher. Bots are filtered from our counts but may be counted differently by GA.
Are scan counts personal data?
We record counts and aggregates (country, city, device, time), not who scanned. Unique scans use a one-way hash of the network address, never the address itself.
Do analytics cost extra?
No. Every plan includes them; the plans differ in how much history is kept. Pro is free for 14 days with no card.
Can I get the data out?
Yes: CSV export on every plan, and on Business a REST API and a real-time webhook for each scan.
