QR Code Types

WiFi QR code: all devices and encryption types

Make a Wi-Fi QR code so guests join your network with one scan. Covers network name, password, WPA or WEP security, and which iPhones and Androids read it.

A WiFi QR code lets guests join your network instantly by pointing their camera at a code, eliminating the need to read out complex passwords.

Creating a WiFi QR code

  1. 1Click Create and choose QR Code.
  2. 2Select WiFi Network.
  3. 3Enter the Network Name (SSID) exactly as configured on your router (SSIDs are case-sensitive).
  4. 4Enter the Password.
  5. 5Choose the Security type: WPA/WPA2 for standard routers, WEP for legacy hardware, or None for open guest networks.
  6. 6Click Create QR Code.

Device compatibility

  • iOS 11+: the native Camera app detects WiFi codes and displays an instant "Join Network" button
  • Android 10+: native Camera integration prompts immediate one-tap WiFi connection
  • Android 8 to 9: depending on manufacturer software, some models may require Google Lens or a scanner utility
  • Laptops (macOS / Windows): scanning displays credentials for manual entry
WiFi QR codes allow anyone with camera access to read network credentials. For public spaces, use a dedicated guest network with isolated client access.
Because this is dynamic, updating the password in ScanOrbit automatically updates the network credentials for future scans without reprinting your signage.
