Warranty & product registration

Warranty and Product Registration by QR Code

Mail-in registration cards are mostly thrown away, and a long web address is mostly ignored. A QR code on the product opens a short mobile form, so registering takes thirty seconds, and you end up with the owner's contact details for recalls, support and future offers.

Free plan: 3 dynamic codes, no time limit. Pro types free for 14 days, no card.

Blender B1: register604
Kettle K2: register391
Toaster T3: register122
1,117 scans. T3's code sits under the base where nobody sees it; moving it is next season's fix.

Example data

What the code can do

One printed code, pointing wherever you choose. Change the destination later and every printed copy follows.

Analytics

What the scans tell you

Every scan of a dynamic code is counted, with link previews and bots filtered out, so the numbers are people.

Registration rate per product

Scans per model, compared with units sold, shows where registration works and where it doesn't.

Scans vs completed forms

If people scan but don't submit, the form is too long.

Where owners are

State and city of scans helps plan service coverage.

When people register

Most register in the first days; a drop-off later shows when to send a reminder.

Reported for every code: scans over time, unique vs total, country, US state and city, iPhone vs Android, operating system, hour of day and day of week, with CSV export and a weekly email report.

Printing it so it scans

  • Put the code where it's seen at first use: on the front of the quick-start guide or on a hang tag, not underneath the product.
  • Print the serial or model number next to the code so customers can copy it into the form.
  • Keep the form short; every extra field costs registrations.
  • Put one short line next to the code saying what scanning gets you. A bare code is scanned far less than one that says "Scan for setup video".
  • Print one proof and scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone before the full run, in the lighting where it will be used.

Set it up

  1. Step 1

    Decide the fields

Name and email at minimum; serial number and purchase date if you need them.

  2. Step 2

Create a lead capture form code

Responses arrive in your dashboard and can be sent to your CRM.

  3. Step 3

Print on the quick-start guide or label

One code per product line so registration rates can be compared.

  4. Step 4

    Follow up

Use the registrations for recalls, support and product updates.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the registrations go?

Into your ScanOrbit dashboard, and optionally to your own systems through signed webhooks or Zapier (Business plan).

Can customers register without an app?

Yes. The form opens in the phone's browser.

Can the code include the serial number automatically?

Only if each unit gets its own code. For most brands, one code per product line plus a serial-number field is simpler.

Is the form a Pro feature?

Yes, the hosted lead capture form is on Pro, free for 14 days on the trial. Linking to a form on your own website works on the free plan.
