Get QR Scan Notifications in Slack
For a launch, a trade-show booth or a high-value sign, it helps to see scans as they happen. This Zap posts each scan of a code to a Slack channel, with where and on what device.
When this happens
ScanOrbit: New Scan
Do this
Slack: Send Channel Message
You need: ScanOrbit Business (the Zapier app is included), a Zapier account, and the ScanOrbit app added to Zapier from our invite link.
Set it up
- Step 1
Trigger: ScanOrbit → New Scan
Fires for scans of your codes, with device, country and city.
- Step 2
Filter: only the code you care about
Continue only if QR code name matches, so a busy code doesn't flood the channel.
- Step 3
Optional filter: first-time scanners
Continue only if 'First scan from this visitor' is true.
- Step 4
Action: Slack → Send Channel Message
"New scan: {QR code name} from {City}, {Country} on {Device}".
Fields
| QR code name | Which code |
| Device | iOS, Android, Desktop |
| City / Country | Where |
| First scan from this visitor | true or false |
| Scanned at | Time |
Ideas
- A booth code at a trade show → the sales team's channel.
- A pet tag code → a direct message to you, the moment it's scanned.
- Launch-day posters → a #launch channel.
Frequently asked questions
Will a busy code flood Slack?
It can: every scan is an event. Filter to one code or to first-time scanners, or use ScanOrbit's daily scan alerts and weekly report instead.
Are bots included?
Scan events are for real scans; ScanOrbit filters known bots and link previews from its analytics.
