Poll QR Code

One question, instant votes.

A poll QR code opens a single question with a handful of options — vote in one tap, no typing, no account. Turn the results on and the voter sees the live tally the moment they submit. Print it on a table, a badge, or a slide, and every scan lands on the same live vote.

Format Architecture

Static vs. Dynamic Poll QR Code

Understand the core operational differences before rolling out physical prints.

Static Poll QR Code

Permanent Raw Data
  • Works completely offline with no internet server required.
  • Destination cannot be changed after printing — requires full reprint.
  • Zero scan counts, geographic telemetry, or device insights.

ScanOrbit Dynamic Poll QR Code

Recommended
  • Update destination URLs or payloads anytime without reprinting.
  • Full real-time scan analytics: city, device, OS, time of day.
  • Pick your own short slug, and no ads on the way through.

Why use a Poll QR Code?

One tap to vote, no typing and no account required

Optional live results shown the instant someone votes

2–6 options, branded with your logo and accent colour

Dynamic: change the question without reprinting the code

How to create one — step by step

1

Write the question and options

Keep it to one question and 2–6 short options — the whole point is a vote that takes five seconds.

2

Decide what to show back

Turn on live results if you want voters to see the tally, or keep it to a plain thank-you.

3

Print and place

Table talkers, event badges, a slide at the front of the room, a booth counter.

4

Watch the tally

Votes appear on the code's Results tab as they come in — no refresh, no export needed to see where it stands.

Popular uses

Conference and meetup sessions: put the question on a slide, let the room vote from their seats, and open the next segment with the actual result.
Restaurant and bar table talkers: 'which special should we bring back?' turns a bored wait into a vote with a stake in the outcome.
Retail and pop-up counters: a quick preference poll on packaging, colour, or flavour, counted automatically instead of on a paper tally sheet.
Internal team decisions: which time slot, which venue, which design direction — a poll on a shared screen replaces a show of hands.
Trade show booths: a one-tap poll on a stand gives visitors a reason to stop, and gives you a real number for the follow-up email.

What is a Poll QR Code?

A poll QR code is the simplest thing ScanOrbit can put on a table or a slide: one question, a short list of options, and a tap to vote. There's no typing, no account, and no page to read past the question itself, which is exactly why it works for a passing audience, a crowd walking past a booth, or a room that has thirty seconds between agenda items. Turn on live results and the voter sees the running tally the instant they submit, which is what makes a poll feel like a shared moment rather than a form nobody sees the outcome of.

A poll only works if voting costs less effort than not voting, which is the whole design brief: one question, a handful of options, one tap. The moment it asks for a name or an email first, most of the room that would have voted in passing decides it isn't worth stopping for — that's what a Lead Capture Form or a Survey is for, deliberately asking for more than a poll ever should.

Live results are optional for a reason. A one-off decision (which flavour, which time slot) benefits from the room seeing the tally update in real time; a poll running as an ongoing pulse-check on packaging or a menu item usually doesn't need the running score shown back, since the point there is your own dashboard, not a leaderboard for the voter.

A poll works because voting costs less than deciding not to. The instant it asks for anything more than a tap, most of the room that would have voted stops.

Best practices for poll qr codes

1

Keep it to one real decision

A poll earns its five-second vote by asking exactly one question. If there's a second thing you need to know, that's a second poll or a Survey — stacking questions into one poll just turns it into a form nobody finishes.

2

Turn on live results for a room, off for a running tally

A poll happening in front of a live audience (a conference session, a team decision) gets more engagement when the room can see the tally update. A poll running quietly on packaging or a counter over weeks usually doesn't need that — the dashboard is enough.

3

Word options so they're visibly different

Two options that read almost the same in a six-word glance get misread under a table talker's lighting. Short, visually distinct option text matters more for a poll than for almost any other QR page, since nobody stops to reread it.

4

Move to a Survey the moment you need a second question

The value of a poll is that it asks for less. If the real question needs follow-up context (why did you pick that, would you recommend it), a Survey collects it with the same Results dashboard, rather than bolting a comment box onto a poll that was never built for one.

Print Optimization

4 Golden Rules for 100% Scan Reliability

Avoid the most common print mistakes that cause smartphone camera recognition failures.

Maintain 4-Module Quiet Zone

Always maintain a clear, unprinted margin (the "quiet zone") around the perimeter of the QR code equal to at least 4 modules in width. Without this white border, camera optical sensors cannot distinguish the code from background artwork.

Ensure 4:1 Color Contrast

The foreground modules must be significantly darker than the background. Light colored QR codes on white paper or dark codes on reflective foil surfaces fail in low-light environments.

Level H Error Correction for Logos

When embedding a brand logo in the center of the QR code, ScanOrbit uses Reed-Solomon Level H error correction (30% redundancy), ensuring the code scans even with significant visual obstruction.

Vector SVG for High-Volume Print

Never upscale a low-resolution JPG or PNG for billboard or packaging printing. Export infinite-resolution Vector SVG directly from ScanOrbit to prevent blurred pixel edges at 300+ DPI.
